MAY MEETING AT BOTANICAL GARDENS

We had a real treat for our last meeting of the Garden Club year. We met at the Memphis Botanical Gardens.

President Lila called the meeting to order and led us in the pledge of allegiance...

... then Shirley gave her final report on our very successful flower show that was held in April.

Jim Duncan, executive director of the Botanical Gardens, informed us about the operations of the Gardens as well as membership benefits.

We received a lot of great instruction from Rick Pudwell, director of horticulture, on the planting and care of many varieties of hydrangeas.

At the end of the meeting we enjoyed a delicious salad luncheon.

WALKING TOUR OF BOTANICAL GARDENS

What a beautiful May morning we had to walk through the Memphis Botanical Gardens. We enjoyed getting to see the hydrangea bed that is sponsored by our club. Rick Pudwell led our group on the tour.

"RUN FOR THE ROSES" FLOWER SHOW 2010

Our long awaited "Run for the Roses" flower show took place on Friday, April 30 at Germantown Plantation Senior Community. Shirley Williams, event chairman, did a fabulous job. We all worked hard and had a delightful day.

We even had our own horse.

The residents really enjoyed the day.

What a beautiful hospitality table.
