SIGNS OF SPRING IN THE AIR

Our little boy and girl statue are looking very fit for warmer weather since the SWGC had them refurbished recently.

The Garden Club is recognized throughout the neighborhood for various projects. Look at the beautiful Spring colors in this front gate planting bed.

Spring is here and with it come the daffodils that we planted for the Germantown Plantation Retirement Community last October. The residents will be able to enjoy the benefits from this project for years to come.

MARCH MEETING

The Garden Club meeting for March was held at the home of Lila Lusk.

Before the meeting began, Linda, Mary Jo and Judy had a cup of coffee and a chat.

Judy presented a great program with wonderful flower show tips. The flower show is just a short time away.

This beautiful artwork for the flower show, done by Debbie Strelsin, was unveiled at the meeting for everyone to see. It will be used on all of the invitations, programs and signage. How many other garden club flower shows have beautiful, original artwork like this...huh?

Marianne admires the horticulture specimens that were submitted at the March meeting.

These lovely ladies enjoyed gathering around Lila's gorgeous table filled the delicious goodies.

FEBRUARY MEETING

Our February Garden Club meeting was held at the TPC Southwind Clubhouse.

President Lila brought some beautiful hats to show everyone and to inspire us to create our hats that we will be wearing at our flower show that will be held on April 30.

Judy Walker, a flower show judge, presented a wonderful program on "The Elements and Principles of Floral Design".

Here is Judy demonstrating her design skills and talents.

What beautiful ideas she has!

Before the meeting began, Nan presented Dave, who was playing poker in the Players' Grille at the Clubhouse that morning, with a little thank you gift for his help with transportation for some of the ladies on the snowy, icy night of the "French Kiss" dinner party.

JANUARY 2010 MEETING

Our January Garden Club meeting was held at the TPC Southwind Clubhouse. Joan Doty, Master Flower Show Judge, was our guest speaker. She had a wonderful program for us about "Understanding the Elements of Floral Design." We learned a lot from her about basic design in preparing for our flower show coming up in April. After Joan's presentation, many of us stayed at the Club and enjoyed having lunch together.

We also had a drawing for the winners of the professional organizer services. This was the big fund raising project of the Ways and Means committee this year. Paula Brown (right) won the big prize of 10 hours of service and Shirley Williams (left) and Diane Baskin each won 5 hours.

Merry Moore (center), chairman of the Smokey Bear/Woodsey Owl National Poetry and Essay Contests Committee, gave a report on the contests' successes. Here with Merry, as the committee shows off some of the poster entries from some talented young artists, are Kathy Pileggi (left) and Elizabeth Blaylock (right).

OH! WHAT AN EVENING!

The "French Kiss" cooking class and dinner that was held on February 8 at Pam Duncan's beautiful home had to be the event of the year. What a treat to get to see Master French Chef Jose Gutierrez work his magic!

Starting the evening off with a glass of french champagne.

We all loved his accent! OOO-LA-LA!

Beautiful "french kiss" ladies enjoying time with the chef.

...and Tammy Faye showed up by the end of the evening! What great fun we had!

OUR ANNUAL HOLIDAY LUNCHEON

What a wonderful time we all had this year at the Holiday Luncheon that was held on December 14 at the home of Elizabeth Blaylock. Marsha Cobb, our Social Chairman, did a terrific job with planning a delightful day for everyone. This favorite event is one that is always looked forward to by us all. Marsha and Elizabeth bid "Season's Greetings" to everyone as they arrived.

Everyone gathered 'round Elizabeth's gorgeous tree and gave their best holiday smiles.

So much delicious food! What wonderful cooks we have in our Garden Club.

Cecelia, Carolyn and Phyllis enjoy visiting and chatting over lunch.

...and then comes the Ornament Exchange. GaNelle shows off the lovely ornaments that she chose.
